LAHORE: Up to 21, of 3,648, candidates passed written examination for the posts of civil judge-cum-judicial magistrates held by the Lahore High Court for Punjab province.
Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah announced the result at a ceremony held in Punjab Judicial Academy here on Saturday.
He said holding examination for the civil judges on a par with the standard of CSS was not an easy task for the judiciary. He said civil services’ like examination was critical to bring competent judges in the district judiciary. “We need all-rounder judges,” he added.
Chief Justice Shah said that one blind candidate also took part in the examination but the participation of female lawyers was not very much. He hoped that the proportion of women would be 50 per cent in future examinations for the civil judges.
He said the high court developed a transparent examination system and it would keep strengthening gradually.
Chief Justice-designate Muhammad Yawar Ali lauded the efforts of examination committee and said the examinations were held in a transparent manner. He said merit based and transparent recruitment of judges was essential for the dispensation of justice among the citizens.
