KARAK: The people of Chountra area of Karak tehsil organised a demonstration on Saturday to protest prolonged power suspension.

The protesters said that the power suspension had created shortage of drinking water in the area.

The protesters marched on Karak-Palosa Sar road and held a demonstration at Saratkhel bus stop. The participants raised slogans against the Pesco. They threatened to extend the agitation to other areas of the district if the Pesco failed to ensure early restoration of the power supply.

The speakers said the unscheduled and prolonged loadshedding in the district had become a daily routine. They said power remained suspended to Saratkhel, Dabb, Isak Chountra, Sangeni, Ghundi Mir Khankhel and other small hamlets of Chountra for the last two days without any reason.

They complained that frequent power tripping damaged electric appliances. They recalled that government had promised to get rid of loadshedding within a year, but it failed to provide relief to the people.
