KARACHI: Four teams of boys and seven of girls will vie for honours when the inaugural Brig Rashid Ali Malik Memorial Inter-school (A Levels) Basketball Championships begin concurrently here at the Arambagh court on Monday.

According to the draws, the boys outfits have been divided into four groups and on completion of the league matches, top two teams from each group will advance into the quarter-finals.

The girls teams have been drawn into two groups and top two from each group will reach the last four.

Brig Rashid was the president of the Pakistan Basketball Federation, Sindh Basketball Association and Sindh Olympic Association. He was also vice-president of the POA.

The event concludes on Feb 8.

Boys groups:

‘A’: Nixor College, Bahria Model School, Beaconhouse Johar

‘B’: The Lyceum School, The City School DK Campus, Habib Public School, Bahria College Nore-I

‘C’: The City School PAF Chapter, KN Academy, Bay View College, Whales School

‘D’: Beaconhouse North Nazimabad, Indus Academy, The City School PECHS Campus

Girls groups:

‘A’: The Lyceum School, The City School PAF Chapter, Beacon house Johar, Indus Academy

‘B’: Nixor College, Beaconhouse North Nazimabad, The City School DK Campus

Monday’s fixtures:

Lyceum School vs Habib Public School at 3:00pm (boys), Lyceum School vs City School PAF Chapter at 3:45pm (girls), City School PAF Chapter vs KN Academy at 4:30pm (boys), Nixor College vs Bahria Model School at 5:15pm (boys).
