LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri has resolved not to make its repeated protests “meaningless” and instead announced speeding up legal recourse to seek justice for the murder of 14 innocent people in Model Town.
Speaking at a news conference after the PAT federal council meeting here on Sunday, he said the Tehreek had all the right and means to hold protest on The Mall but it was postponing the path of protests for the time being. He said the PAT would take future course of action through extensive consultations and collective wisdom.
Dr Qadri also urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the state terrorism in Model Town and stressed that dozens of “Rao Anwaars” were roaming free in Punjab and nobody was able to hold any such police official accountable.
The PAT chief said a fresh application had been submitted for the constitution of a new bench for summoning Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif and 14 other masterminds of the Model Town massacre.
