LAHORE: Syed Fakhar Ali Shah and Mazhar Sheikh were elected as the Pakistan Baseball Federation (PBF) president and secretary respectively here on Sunday.

Fakhar was elected in place of his father Syed Khawar Shah, who passed away here on Jan 16 after a brief illness. Mazhar was retained as secretary.

Fakhar also represented Pakistan as a baseball player during the 90s.

The general council of the PFB was held at the Bahria Town under the chairmanship of Shaukat Javed. All the affiliated units of the federation attended the meeting.

The house unanimously approved that the 23rd Syed Khawar Shah National Baseball Championship will be held in the last week of February in Lahore.

The tournament will help select players for the national training camp for this year’s Asian Games set to be held in Indonesia. It was also announced the Pakistan sides (U-12 and U-18) will participate in the Youth Asian Baseball Championships this year.
