A new boss for DC movies

As part of a shakeup of its DC film operations, Warner Bros. is promoting Walter Hamada to oversee its comic book movies. It is reported that Hamada will essentially serve as president of production in charge of the DC movies.

The move comes as DC is looking for more quality control of its big-screen efforts — the studio captured acclaim and box office bonanza with last summer’s Wonder Woman, but was savaged by critics for Suicide Squad and Justice League. There is widespread frustration over DC’s failure to match the popularity of Marvel movies.

Fifth Indiana Jones will be Steven Spielberg’s next film

Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg plans to make the fifth Indiana Jones movie his next project.

It is reported that Spielberg plans to film the Indiana Jones sequel in 2019 for a 2020 release, then follow it up with a remake of the movie musical West Side Story, featuring a primarily Latino cast.

The as-yet-untitled Indiana Jones project is slated to open in theatres more than 10 years after its previous instalment, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Harrison Ford, who will once again play the titular archaeologist, will celebrate his 77th birthday next year.

Animaniacs’ Hulu, Warner Bros. partner on ‘90s cartoon reboot

A brand-new version of the classic ‘90s cartoon is coming to fans from Hulu, Amblin Television and Warner Bros. Animation, the premium streaming service announced recently.

Steven Spielberg is back as executive producer for the family-friendly animated show, which has received a two-season straight-to-series order. The reboot, which marks Hulu’s first original series made for families, is set to premiere in 2020.

The cartoon centres around The Warner brothers, Yakko and Wakko, and the Warner sister, Dot — three inseparable, irascible siblings — who have a great time wreaking havoc and mayhem in the lives of everyone they meet.
