SHEIKHUPURA: As many as eight labourers sustained burn injuries when a fire erupted in a gas decanting plant on Badoh Muraday Road, some 8-km from here on Sunday.

Reports said dozens of workers were decanting liquid petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders at Al-Saudi Energy Plant (Pvt) Ltd. Suddenly, a cylinder leaked gas and a fire broke out. As a result Hanif, Imran, Ashraf, Shahzad, Ghulam Rasool, Khaliqullah, Pervez and Jamal sustained injuries and were shifted to DHQ Hospital. Later, Hanif and Imran were referred to Lahore due to their critical condition.

The flames also engulfed an adjacent Elahi paper and board mills, causing a considerable damage to both factories.
