TAXILA: Deputy Chairman Senate and general secretary of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri on Tuesday said religious parties might contest upcoming general elections from one platform.
He was talking to newsmen after addressing a religious gathering in Madrassah Sirajul Aloom, Jand of district Attock on Tuesday.
He said the revived Motahidda Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) would play a decisive role in upcoming elections and would give a tough time to other political parties in the next general elections, especially in Khyber Pakhtukhaw, Balochistan and Karachi.
Mulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri said that the parliament should complete its constitutional term and elections be held on time.
He said the institutions responsible for eradication of corruption should carry out accountability of every individual without discrimination because corruption was a serious malaise which had plagued all sections of government and society and rendered them weak from within.
He said that religious parties and scholars had secured the religious ideology of the country from secular forces.
He said India and some other countries wanted to destabilise Pakistan but they would not be allowed to succeed in their nefarious designs.
