SUKKUR: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman and former head of state Asif Ali Zardari along with Sindh Higher Education Commission (SHEC) chairman Dr Asim Hussain on Thursday visited the bereaved family of Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani in Karampur to offer their condolences.

All routes leading to Karampur, located near Tangwani town of Kandhkot-Kashmore district, were sealed off by a 2,200-strong police force two hours before the helicopter carrying the former president landed at a specially laid helipad at Begari Pull on the outskirts of Karampur. Mr Zardari and Dr Asim then travelled to the Bijarani House in a motorcade amid stringent security arrangements.

Bijarani, the planning and development minister, and his spouse, Fariha Razzak, were found dead last Thursday in their Karachi house and police investigators had concluded that he first shot dead his wife and then committed suicide with his pistol.

Condoling his death with his son, Shabbir Bijarani, and other members of the bereaved family, Mr Zardari said PPP lost its asset and a senior politician in the death of Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani.

MNA Ahsan Mazari was also present at the Bijarani House.
