HYDERABAD, May 11: Sindh National Labour Federation president Rana Mehmood Ali Khan has deplored the inordinate delay in implementation of President Gen Pervez Musharraf’s order of fixing minimum wages of workers at Rs3,000 per month. Speaking as chief guest at a workers’ convention organized by the federation here on Wednesday, he said workers were finding it difficult to make both ends meet due to skyrocketing prices of essential goods.
He said the president had fixed the minimum wages of workers at Rs3,000 per month but his orders had not been implemented.
He regretted that trade union federations were performing the role of silent spectators and they had failed to protect rights of workers.
Mr Khan urged workers to unite on one platform and launch a struggle for their rights.
He demanded that wages of workers should be increased by Rs1,000 per month and of government employees by 50 per cent in the coming budget.
