KARACHI: Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Friday supported “Pashtun” sit-in staged by tribesmen in Islamabad to protest against the killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud, a young man of South Waziristan, in a fake encounter in Karachi, and termed the move a “wake-up call against fundamentalism”. He appealed to everyone to come forward to support this move.

In multiple tweets, President Ghani focused on Pashtuns’ efforts and history against violence while urging people on both sides of the border to align themselves against acts of terrorism for a lasting peace in the region.

“I fully support the historical #PashtunLongMarch in Pakistan,” said Mr Ghani in one of his tweets.
