MULTAN: The second edition of the two-day Multan Literary Festival (MLF) is scheduled to commence on Feb 21.

After successful holding of the festival in April last year, the second MLF is going to be held at different venues of the city, including Bahauddin Zakariya University, University of Education and Multan Tea House.

The festival is being organised by the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC), and an organising committee from the BZU has been constituted in this regard.

About the objectives of the festival, the organisers said the activity would be carried out to inform the youth with centuries old art, culture and literature of Multan, one of the oldest city of world.

The National Book Foundation, in collaboration with national and regional publishers, would hold the NBF Book Fair in the literary festival.

The main activities of the event would include book launches, poetry sessions and panel discussions with young writers, leading literary and academic personalities, local cultural performances and tributes to the artists hailing from Multan, display of stalls, etc. It is expected that more than 15,000 people would visit the two-day festival.

This activity is being collaborated with number of national, provincial and regional government departments, universities and reputed literary organizations, including the Punjab Higher Education Commission, National Book Foundation Pakistan, Radio Pakistan Multan, Multan Tea House, Chamber of Commerce, Inter-University Consortium for Promotion of Social Sciences, an alliance of more than 35 universities and other local literary organisations.

PHEC chairperson Prof Dr Mohammad Nizamuddin along with notable literary personalities would inaugurate the festival.
