LAHORE: Punjab government representative Muhammad Ahmed Khan on Tuesday presented Rs10 million cheque to legendary Pakistani singer Naheed Akhtar in honour of her services at Alhamra Art Centre, The Mall.
Lahore Arts Council Executive Director retired Capt Atta Muhammad Khan had requested Information and Culture Secretary Raja Jahangir for financial support for the singer. A summary to the effect was sent to the chief minister.
After the death of her husband Asif Ali Pota, a journalist and playwright, Ms Akhtar had been facing an acute financial crunch.
