KOHAT: The district council has taken notice of dormant development schemes of fiscal year 2015-16 in various areas and asked the executing agencies to complete all such projects by March 31.

The district council session was held here on Tuesday, which was presided over by naib nazim Abdur Rasheed. district nazim Naseem Afridi also attended the session.

District councillors Dr Matiullah, opposition leader Hamid, Faheem Khan, Razzaq Mohammad, Shahid and Ms Sameena spoke about the status of schemes in their respective areas.

The convener said that most of the 2015-16 schemes were pending due to the apathy of tehsil municipal administration, communication and works department and Public Health Engineering Department.

He asked the councillors to submit details of all such schemes so that the issue could be taken up with the heads of relevant departments.

The councilors complained that nobody had visited the projects during last two years. On this, the convener directed the executing agencies to complete all the pending schemes by March 31.

Meanwhile, the district administration set April 30 deadline for completion of all 30 beautification projects and warned the contractors of penalty if any compromise is made on the quality of work.

Chairing a meeting of the district administration officials in his office on Tuesday, ADC Sahibazada Najeeb said that FIRs could also be registered against delinquent contractors.

He said that the contractors should display the board, explaining the name of executing agencies, estimated cost and date of start and completion of the project. He said that the government was monitoring the pace of work on beautification projects in the province.
