DHA College Whites reach semis

KARACHI: DHA College Whites qualified for the last-four stage of the fifth Bilal Bhaty Inter-school/collegiate T20 cricket tournament after scoring an easy 50-run victory over Cedar College at the DHA Sports Club Moin Khan Academy here the other day.

Batting first in the second quarter-final, DHA College Whites posted 172-9 with skipper Yahya Rafiq blasting 54 from 21 deliveries — reaching quickest half century of the event in just 19 balls — while striking five boundaries and one six.

Cedar College were dismissed for 122 in the 18th over as off-spinner Naz Amjad picked up four wickets for 21 runs to claim the man-of-the-match prize.

Jalal names probables for women’s camp

LAHORE: The new chief selector of the PCB women’s national committee Jalaluddin on Monday named 21 probables for training camp, which starts at at the National Cricket Academy here from Wednesday.

The national camp has been set up for selection of Pakistan squad for the ICC Women’s Championship Round-2 series against Sri Lanka.

The camp will be held under the supervision of head coach Mark Coles.

Pakistan will play three T20 Internationals and three One-day Internationals during against their Sri Lankan hosts.

Qualifying round of Balochistan Cup nearing end

KARACHI: The qualifying round of PPL Balochistan Football Cup 2018 is nearing an end with winning teams gearing up to play the final round from March 1.

Day eight and nine saw exciting matches witnessed by the football fraternity with excitement and zeal at Quetta, Zhob, Naseerabad and Kalat divisions.

On the eighth day, Qilla Saifullah, Kachhi, Kharan and Lasbela won matches against Sherani, Jaffarabad, Washuk and Awaran respectively, while matches between Quetta and Nushki and Loralai and Zhob resulted in draws with one goal by each team. Lasbela outclassed Awaran by 15 goals against nil by the opponents.

The ninth day witnessed matches between Pishin and Chaman City resulting in a draw 2-2, while Quetta City won the match against Nushki by1-0.

The event is being organized in collaboration with Government of Balochistan and Balochistan Football Association.—Agencies

Probables for national hockey camp picked

LAHORE: The training camp for the national hockey team for the Commonwealth Games, being held in the Australian city of Gold Coast from April 4 to 15, will be established at the Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium in Karachi from Thursday.

Chief Selector Islahuddin announced a list of 32 probables who have been directed to report to Pakistan team and ex-legendary centre-forward Hasan Sardar on Wednesday.

Lahore wins jujitsu competition

LAHORE: Lahore won the All-Punjab Jujitsu Inter-Divisional Championship in Faisalabad. Gujranwala grabbed second position while Faisalabad took third position.

The championship was organised with the collaboration of the District Sports Committee Faisalabad and District Jujitsu Association Faisalabad.

Seven divisions of Punjab — Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan, Sahiwal, Sargodha and Rawalpindi — took part in the event.

The position-holding players will participate in the upcoming 4th Inter-Provincial Games scheduled to be held at Peshawar from March 18 to 20.
