CHITRAL: Naveedur Rehman Advocate, a young lawyer from Drosh, has been appointed as president of the Chitral district chapter of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. He replaced Saeed Ahmed Khan who held the office for two decades.

This was announced in a notification issued by the party’s provincial president Engr Amir Muqam, who asked Mr Rehman to reorganise the party at the union council level.

Meanwhile, the PML-N district spokesman, Niaz A Niazi Advocate, said all the local leaders and workers of the party had reposed trust on the newly-appointed president and had welcomed the decision of the central and provincial leadership of the party.

In a press statement on Friday, he said the party would become a vibrant and largest political entity in the district due to the new leadership.

AWARD: Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) has conferred best performance award on Koh Integrated Area Development Programme (KIADP) for its rigorous and consistent efforts and strategy in development of the Koh union council.

The award was presented to its chairman Abdul Ghaffar Khan by member of district council and former MPA Maulana Abdur Rahman on behalf of PPAF at a function on Friday.

The participants hailed efforts of KIADP for completing a large number of development projects of safe drinking water, link road, irrigation channel, flood protection works and electrification with the community participation.

ROAD CONSTRUCTION DEMANDED: Arandu village nazim Qari Abdul Amin has demanded of the Army Chief and Corps Commander of Peshawar to take notice of the dilapidated condition of Mirkhani-Arandu road which remains incomplete for last four years, causing nuisance for the locals.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, he said the people of Arandu were also annoyed over non-payment of remunerations of labourers as the contractors were not yet paid their dues.

He said during expansion of the road, lands of hundreds of people were acquired but the landowners were also awaiting payment of compensation.

He said due to the strategic importance of Arandu town situated on Pak-Afghan border, the road facility was inevitable.
