QUETTA: A member of the Shia Hazara community was gunned down in the Ali Bhai Road area here on Sunday, police said.

Naiz Ali, 22, was working in a workshop when armed men on a motorcycle opened fire on him. He received multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot.

The body was taken to a hospital and handed over to heirs after medico-legal formalities.

Police termed it a case of targeted killing and started investigation.

Police said unidentified assailants fired bullets at the workshop, adding that other people present there remained unhurt.

No one claimed responsbality for the attack.

Police conducted raids at different suspected places in the city but no arrest was reported till late in night.

Sectarian terrorism in Balochistan has disproportionately targeted the Hazara community people as they are easily identifiable because of their distinctive physical appearance.
