KOHAT: The security forces have defused a remote-controlled bomb planted on the roadside in Shakar Tangi area of Orakzai Agency.
Sources told this correspondent on Tuesday that militants had planted a 10-kilogramme bomb on the route of the security forces’ convoys in central Orakzai Agency near Mishti area along Kohat district on Monday evening.
They said that the bomb disposal squad was summoned which defused the device. Later, a search operation was launched in the area, but no arrests were made.
UPLIFT PROJECT: The government has increased funds from Rs800 million to Rs1.20 billion for the uplift and beautification project of Kohat to overcome funds shortage and include some new schemes.
Additional deputy commissioner, Kohat, Sahibazada Najeeb Afridi told a press conference here on Tuesday that they had asked the relevant departments and contractors to ensure timely
completion of the project to avoid lapsing of the funds.
Taking notice of the reports on social media about use of substandard material in uplift schemes, he said that the matter would be raised with PTA to ban unregistered sites which were spreading false stories.
He said that the 100 feet piece of tough tiles in KDA was uprooted due to faulty sewerage system of a private market and not due to substandard material.
The shop owners had been asked to make suitable sewerage system to avoid damage to the streets.
