TIMERGARA: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Senator Sirajul Haq said on Friday that the central organisation of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal would be formed at a meeting in Karachi on March 20.

Talking to mediapersons here at Balambat, the JI chief said that the religious parties would contest the next general elections from the same platform under the banner of MMA. He also delivered the Friday sermon at Ahyaul Uloom, Balambat. He has been in the district due to the death of his mother-in-law.

“All pending matters regarding MMA would be resolved at the Karachi meeting of the religious parties leaders after which the alliance would hold processions in all big cities, including Islamabad,” Mr Haq said.

He claimed that the religious parties were the real defenders and protectors of the boundaries of motherland and that was why it had been decided to restore MMA. He said that the world powers wanted to target the Muslim civilisation through media war and modern technology. He asked the people to make struggle for enforcement of Sharia law in the country.

SCHOOLS INSPECTION: Lower Dir deputy commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram and district education officer Dr Hafiz Mohammad Ibrahim on Friday visited various schools and inspected availability of facilities such as drinking water, bathrooms, chairs and solar system.

Mr Akram asked the DEO to ensure availability of desks and benches for students in schools. Lower Dir has got second position in the province in terms of education standard and availability of facilities.

The deputy commissioner also visited a furniture supply centre at Gulabad, Adenzai, and saw preparation of benches and desks. He was told that the furniture would be provided to 715 government primary schools in the district.

Meanwhile, a four-day training workshop for physical education teachers concluded at the government high school, Mian Banda, here on Friday. The workshop was jointly arranged by the Unicef and Right to Play organisation.

DEO Hafiz Ibrahim and director physical education Abdul Karim were also present on the occasion. They said that physical education and sports were vital for overall development of children.
