Senate chairman thanks Zardari for PPP support

KARACHI: The newly-elected Senate chairman “thanked” former president of Pakistan and leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party Asif Ali Zardari for the PPP’s support in his election, said a statement here on Saturday.

During a meeting with Mr Zardari at Bilawal House, Sadiq Sanjrani said the people of Balochistan were grateful to the PPP for always leading the struggle for the genuine rights of the province’s masses, it said.

“Chairman Senate Mir Sadiq Sanjrani called on the former president of Pakistan and PPPP president Asif Ali Zardari at Bilawal House on Saturday evening,” said the statement issued by Bilawal House. “The PPP’s candidate for leader of the opposition in the Senate Sherry Rehman, Jan Jamali, Senator Khoda Babar and others were present. The newly-elected Senate Chairman Mir Sadiq Sanjrani thanked president Asif Ali Zardari for his party’s support in his election, adding that the people of Balochistan were grateful to the party for always leading the struggle for the genuine rights of the province’s masses.”

Mr Zardari, it added, congratulated Mr Sanjrani on his election as Senate chairman and assured him that the PPP would always remain in the forefront in Balochistan people’s quest for development under a democratic system. He said resolution of all issues faced by the province lay in strengthening democracy and ensuring democratic rights of the people of Balochistan.

Mr Sanjrani and Deputy Chairman of Senate Saleem Mandviwalla also visited the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah to offer fateha.
