KARACHI: Cueist Mohammad Shahbaz made his debut in the 19th Asian under-21 snooker championship on a dismal note when he lost to Myanmar Aung Phyo 1-4 in Yangon on Monday.

According to results made available here, Shahbaz could only extend his opponent to five frames after he found himself in hot water losing the first three frames before his opponent complete the rout by taking fifth frame.

The Myanmar cueist was home 87-4, 62-7, 74-28, 34-65, 47-11. He had to his credit a splendid break of 57 in the opening frame while Shahbaz replied with 50 in the fourth.

Meanwhile, the matches of Mohammad Naseem Akhtar and Haris Tahir were in progress at the time of filing this report.

It may be mentioned that both the cueists have a winning start on Sunday.
