LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader MNA Shafqat Mahmood on Monday chaired a meeting of the party and discussed the ongoing accountability process and strategy to “expose Punjab government’s corruption”.

The meeting was attended by Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly, Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed, MPA Mian Aslam Iqbal, retired Brig Aslam Ghumman, Kashif Ayub Meo, Imtiaz Safdar Warraich and Rizwan Mehdi.

The meeting discussed the information available regarding Metro Multan and Metro Pindi projects. He said the party was also trying to get hold of audit reports of different mega projects to identify corruption.

Meanwhile, at a function held to distribute cheques among the members of Christian community ahead of Easter, Mr Mahmood said Shahbaz Sharif during his last 10-year rule in Punjab spent billions of rupees but could not turn around the fate of the province.

He alleged that corruption was rampant in all mega projects directly resulting in mass poverty.

FIRING: PTI central executive member Farrukh Javed Khan on Monday escaped indiscriminate firing by unknown assailants on his office on McLeod Road.

The assailants fired six bullets shattering windowpanes of the office and hitting the walls.

Mr Khan submitted a complaint about the incident with the Naulakha police station. He said that he was a player of Imran Khan’s team and could not be frightened by “such cowardly attacks”.

RESOLUTION: PTI MPA Dr Nausheen Hamid on Monday submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly demanding legal protection for the home-based workers.

She said millions of women were working in homes and contributing to the national economy but were continuously being ignored by the government.

She demanded the government should adopt a policy on the home-based workers and offer them social security, medical and other facilities.
