KARACHI: The Sindh Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) on Wednesday approved 23 schemes and uplift projects worth Rs5.487 billion.

The schemes — related to work and services, health, local government, irrigation, culture, tourism, fisheries and livestock, etc — were approved in a PDWP meeting for the current fiscal year presided by Chairman Planning and Development Board Muhammad Waseem.

Two schemes, approved in the Local Government de­­part­­ment, include constructions of various union councils, town committee/municipal committees and districts council buildings in Sindh worth Rs19.800 million.

Six schemes were approved in Works and Services Department.

Two schemes, approved for Culture and Tourism De­­partment, include establishment of motels, improvement/renovation of existing motels /resorts in Thatta, Sehwan and Umerkot worth Rs635.118m. One scheme each was approved for the Energy Depart­ment, Health Depart­ment, Infor­mation, Science and Technology, Public Health Engi­­neering Depart­ment, Planning and Develop­ment Department, and Ser­vices General Admi­nistration and Coordination Department.

Two schemes were app­roved for the Home Depart­ment while three schemes were given a go-ahead for Fisheries and Livestock Department.

Two schemes for the Irrigation Department were approved. One of these includes supply of fresh water flows to Manchar Lake from River Indus via pumping station at a cost of Rs14.533m.
