HYDERABAD: The newly prepared electoral rolls were put on display for public viewing at 640 centres in the Hyderabad region on Monday to enable voters to get missing entries included, wrong ones excluded and the incorrect data corrected by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

ECP’s Hyderabad region now comprises six districts — Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Mohammad Khan and Dadu — while a separate region — Thatta — comprising Thatta, Badin Sujawal, had been created last year.

A total of 2,955,202 — 1,610,078 male and 1,345,124 female — voters have been enrolled in the newly prepared electoral rolls of the Hyderabad region.

Hyderabad has 351 centres — Matiari 30, Jamshoro 90, Tando Allahyar 40, Tando Mohammad Khan 17 and Dadu 96.

According to the break-up, Hyderabad district has 988,772 voters (546,409 male and 442,363 female), Jamshoro has 398,017 voters (217,914 male and 180,103 female); Matiari has 316,477 voters (166,955 male and 149,522 female); Tando Allahyar has 329,896 voters (175,331 male and 154,565 female); Tando Mohammad Khan has 252,826 voters (137,668 male and 115,158 female) and Dadu has 667,243 voters (364,788 male and 302,455 female).

Government schools have been designated as the display centres. Any voter can file objection and request for inclusion, exclusion (of dead voters) and correction of entries. The forms are available with the district election commissioner (DEC).

The DEC would refer the request to the assistant commissioner concerned who would dispose of it as the revising authority. Voters could visit the display centres till April 26 and then final electoral rolls would be published.

ECP officials said that electoral rolls were prepared under the CERS (computerised electoral registration system). Through the CERS, citizens’ computerised national identity card numbers were sent to the ECP by the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra).
