HARIPUR: A minor girl was killed while her mother sustained injuries when they were hit by a moving train here on Monday.

Police and eyewitnesses said that some children were playing in the middle of the railway track in Pandak village when the Karachi-bound Hazara Express approached, hitting a girl who died on the spot. Her mother, who ran after her daughter to rescue her, also suffered head injuries.

The train remained stationed for some time when the railway police reached there and shifted the body of minor girl and her injured mother to district headquarters hospital, Haripur, wherefrom the woman named Nabeela Bibi was referred to Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad in critical condition. The deceased was identified as Hurain Bibi, 6.
