QUETTA: A convoy of personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC) and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) fought off an attack and managed to arrest four suspected militants in Marget coalmines area in Bolan district on Tuesday, security officials said.

The FC and CTD personnel were on their way to the Marget area to launch an intelligence-based operation when the militants present there attacked them.

Heavy exchange of fire took place that ultimately led to the arrest of the four suspected militants.

The arms and ammunition recovered in the attack included hand grenades, rocket shells and AK-47 rifles. The arrested militants were handed over to the authorities concerned for interrogation.

Meanwhile, security forces conducted intelligence-based operations in different areas of Shoaib Nikka, Zhob, Kabo and Mastung and arrested two suspected militants, an Inter-Services Public Relations statement said.

During the operations arms and ammunition including IEDs, detonators, explosives and ball bearings were recovered.
