NOWSHERA: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Sami in a meeting on Wednesday formed a committee to directly contact Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan for seat adjustment in the next general election.

The meeting held at Darul Uloom Haqania was presided over by JUI-S chief Maulana Samiul Haq and attended by Maulana Bashir Ahmad, Abdul Raouf Farooqi, Cheraghuddin, Maulana Hamidul Haq, Mohammad Yousaf Shah and others.

It formed a committee comprising Maulana Hamidul Haq, Maulana Yousaf Shah, Maulana Shah Abdul Aziz and Maulana Abdur Raouf Farooqi. It was decided that the committee would hold talks with Imran Khan on the recent Senate election and seat adjustment for the coming general elections.

The JUI-S leaders said that they would also contact other religious parties and groups outside Muttahida Majlis-Amal to work together for implementation of Islamic system.

Addressing the gathering, Samiul Haq said that JUI-S would try to collect loyal leadership on one platform against those elements who were trying to create tussle among the government institutions. He also appealed to the judiciary to resolve pending cases of the poor people.

HASHISH SEIZED: Police on Wednesday seized 131 kilogrammes of hashish from a pickup van and arrested an accused near Akbarpura here.

A police official said that the van was on its way to Islamabad. He said that an accused Syed Khan, a resident of Bara, was arrested and a case registered against him.
