LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Lahore, has decided to launch an investigation into all housing projects of the Eden Developers after its failure to compensate affected people.

“The NAB has decided to probe all projects of the Eden following its failures to compensate a number of people who purchased plots/houses on installments but were not given allotment despite paying the full payment,” a NAB spokesman told Dawn on Thursday.

Earlier, NAB had directed the Eden group to hand over houses/plots to all affected persons by end of March or face action.

A good number of affectees held a demonstration on Thursday outside the NAB’s Thokar Niaz Baig office demanding action against the Eden for its failure to compensate them. NAB Director General Shahzad Saleem assured them that the bureau would redress their grievances.

Mr Saleem also held an open hearing where most complaints were against different housing societies in the city. According to NAB, it received complaints against the Eden, Khayaban-e-Ameen and Elite Town. “Criminal proceedings are being initiated against the Eden,” he said.
