DERA MURAD JAMALI: Former prime minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has said there is slim chance of elections being held in 2018 due to the prevailing political situation. He described the demand for re-election of chairman Senate as unconstitutional.

He said this while talking to media people at the Commissioner Office during a visit. PPP Central Committee member Mir Sadiq Ali Umrani and Mir Nabi Bakhsh Gola were also present at the occasion.

Reacting strongly to the demand of re-election of Senate chairman, he said that Punjab and some other forces couldn’t tolerate the winning of a candidate for the post from Balochistan. The demand was undemocratic and unconstitutional, former premier added.

Punjab and certain forces always tried to keep Balochistan and Sindh away from politics and the government which had deepened the sense of deprivation among its people, Mr Jamali said, adding that Balochistan was a federating unit and such a discriminatory attitude with its people was not justified. In reference to the launch of a new Balochistan-based political party comprising PML dissidents, he said it would prove a last nail in the coffin of real Muslim League. “I am a Muslim Leaguer but not part of the PML-N,” he clarified and said with the emergence of different leagues, the real Muslim League had been completely destroyed.
