MARDAN: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khan Khattak on Monday laid foundation stone for a mega park project on the Ring Road here.

Addressing the project launching ceremony, the CM said the PTI government was committed to providing modern parks and playgrounds to the people in the province.

“We have been spending billions of funds on development schemes from provision of clean drinking water, improvement of traffic system, rehabilitation and construction of parks, playgrounds and footpaths, and beautification in all divisional headquarters of the province,” he said.

Mr Khattak said parks and playgrounds were in bad shape during the previous governments as their staff members worked in the houses of the members of the ruling parties.

He said in the past, the political interference had ruined government institutions and organisations.

He said the government had established sanitation companies to ensure cleanliness in cities and introduced e-bidding, e-billing and e-tendering to end corruption in development projects.

Earlier, education minister Atif Khan told participants that the proposed park spread over 380 kanals of land would be in place within six months.

He said the park would have ‘Dino-park, aqua-park, mini golf course, kids play area, community centre, wedding marquee, bicycle track, butterfly and bird aviary, rock climbing area, commercial swings, Dino-gate, sculptures and other facilities,” he said.
