The Punjab government had allotted an official residence in GOR Lahore to deceased deputy commissioner Sohail Ahmad Tipu where his wife and children had been living after he was posted in Gujranwala.

PROTEST: Villagers of Saddar protested on GT Rroad on Tuesday over inaction against the people who allegedly set their houses and property on fire after looting valuables, and demanded those responsible be arrested soon.

The protesters said a few days ago two rival groups of Kot Baqir village had quarrelled and exchanged fire in which one man was killed. But the groups had a murder case registered against the protesters and set their houses on fire after looting valuables.

Saddar police had registered a case against the suspects on charges of looting houses and setting them on fire under the Dacoity and Terrorism Act, but they could not be arrested yet.

The protesters shouted slogans against police and demanded the suspects be arrested as they were receiving threats from them. Later, they dispersed on getting an assurance from police of arresting the culprits.

RAPE: A girl was raped on Tuesday while she was alone at her house in Tetley village.

Police claimed to have arrested the suspect and registered a case against him. They said the girl was alone at home as her parents had gone to a nearby village. The suspect entered the house after scaling the boundary wall and allegedly raped the girl.

Locals gathered when the girl raised a hue and cry and caught the suspect and handed him over to police.
