APROPOS the letter ‘Crime in Peshawar’ (April 3), I would like to clarify that no city has a zero crime rate; even in the most secure parts of the world, the street crime is reported. This year, 49 murders were recorded in London, which is one of the safest cities in the world. The claims of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government regarding police reforms there are evident from the roads of Peshawar, Charsadda, Tank, D.I. Khan, etc. The KP government has spent huge sums to inculcate functional specialisation in the police departments as well as equipping them with necessary hardware to provide a better, safe and secure environment.

The KP government is keeping a strict check on the police department to ensure full security of its citizens.
