VEHARI: Police recovered a 10-year-old girl on Thursday -- three days after she was kidnapped from Machiwal area about 20 kilometres from here.

Police said Amina, daughter of labourer Muhammad Bakhsh of Chak-555/EB, was kidnapped by her neighbours on April 9 when her parents were not at home.

DPO Umar Saeed Malik constituted a special team which raided a house in Lahore and recovered the girl.

Machiwal SHO Nasir told Dawn that Amina’s neighbours turned out her kidnappers and police had arrested suspect Ghulam Farid, his mother Manzooran Bibi, his brother Arshad and sister-in-law Samina Bibi. He claimed that the suspects wanted to sell the girl and police had already registered a case against Ghulam Farid and Samina Bibi under section 363 of PPC.

KILLS DAUGHTER: A man allegedly killed his daughter at Basti Khojpura about 45 kilometres from here on Thursday.

The girl wanted to marry a boy of her own free will and her father Haq Nawaz was opposed to it. Both exchanged harsh words after which Nawaz killed his daughter with a hammer blow.

Police registered a case against Haq Nawaz.
