SWABI: The ongoing enrolment campaign in public sector schools has received an encouraging response.
This was stated by teachers and parents while talking to Dawn here on Monday.
The primary schoolteachers said each school in its own jurisdiction was running a campaign and holding walks to encourage the people to come forward and enroll their children, both boys and girls, in the school. Parents are coming in large number to get their children enrolled, they said, thanks to better facilities and learning environment in government educational institutions.
“In past we were not aware of the importance of educating our girls, but now we have become conscious of the fact that education is vital for our children, particularly girls,” said Rahim Dad Khan of Maneri Bala village, who got admitted his granddaughter to school on Monday.
Similarly, another resident Dilbar Khan said: “Once the people realise the dividends of education they won’t care about any financial constraint and will ensure quality education to their children.”
The teachers said though number of both public and private schools had increased manifold students’ enrolment continued to increase.
Abdul Latif, district president of all teachers association, said the teachers would always welcome and facilitate parents when then come to enroll their children in schools.
IMRAN’S VISIT RESCHEDULED: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan’s visit to Swabi has been rescheduled for Friday instead of Thursday.
Anwar Haqdad, the PTI’s district president, said arrangements for their leader’s visit were complete. He said Imran would be companied by Chief Minister Perez Khattak, assembly speaker Asad Qaisar, health minister Shahram Khan Tarakai and other central and provincial leaders.
