LAHORE: Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed has said the interior ministry will be responsible if Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz’s departure for London turns out to be an “escape”.

Reacting to both PML-N leaders’ departure here on Wednesday, Mr Rasheed said the government tried to facilitate the duo by not placing their names on the Exit Control List. He said the departure would prolong case proceedings, claiming the whole nation was perturbed over why the two PML-N leaders were allowed to go abroad when cross-examination had been completed.

“The Ishaq Dar formula is being applied to Nawaz and Maryam,” he added.

He hoped that Nawaz would return himself instead of being arrested and brought back through Interpol.

He called the women workers’ protest an attack on the judiciary in front of the Supreme Court soon after a decision was issued disqualifying Nawaz for life.
