QUETTA: A man belonging to the Shia Hazara community was gunned down on the busy Abdul Sattar Road here on Wednesday.
Police said the deceased, who ran an auto parts business, was sitting in his shop when men on a motorbike opened fire on him using an automatic weapon.
Muhammad Asif, a resident of Alamdar road area, received five bullets in upper parts of his body and died on the spot, police said.
The assailants managed to flee from the crime scene. Soon after the incident, policemen and personnel of the Frontier Corps rushed to the spot and took the body to hospital.
“The deceased belonged to the Hazara community and the incident seems to be sectarian in nature,” said a senior police officer.
He said the body was later handed over to the heirs of the deceased.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
