A lot of shops sell good quality frozen puff pastry and it is a very useful and convenient ingredient to make something in minutes, with almost anything you have available at home, and still get the yummiest of snacks.
Here is the recipe of Nutella puff pastry Danish, with just four ingredients and a very simple method that anyone can follow. You only need an adult to handle the oven and baking part, the rest you can do on your own. Just the right recipe for a quick treat.
Ingredients
• 1 sheet or 250g of puff pastry
• 1 egg, whisked
• 2 tablespoon sugar
• Nutella spread
Method
Preheat oven to 400F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, set aside.
Roll the puff pastry sheet and cut it into squares of about 3 inches. Spread about one teaspoon or more of Nutella on top of the puff pastry pieces.
Take two opposite corners and bring them together to join from the top by pinching it. Take the other two opposite corners and bring to the top to join the first two. With your fingers pinch all together to join them.
Brush the top and outer surface of the pastry with the whisked egg. Sprinkle with some sugar and place on the baking tray.
Bake for about 15 minutes, then turn off the oven and turn on the grill and cook for three-four minutes more to get the brown colour on top.
Allow it to cool for five minutes and enjoy. You can store it in an airtight container in the fridge for two to three days too.
Note: Since puff pastries tend to ‘puff’ a lot, mine opened up from the top during baking, so I didn’t get the desired shape — that of a close flower bud — but it opened up into full bloomed flower, which actually looked better. You can make it into any shape and use any filling instead of Nutella as puff pastry is a very versatile dough to work with and tastes good both with savoury or sweet fillings.
