KOHAT: The district council has expressed its dissatisfaction over the performance of Water Supply and Sanitation Company (WSSC) here and summoned its executive head to appear in the next session for answering queries of the members.

The council session was held with convener Abdur Rasheed in the chair and attended by district nazim Naseem Afridi and councillors besides representatives of the line departments.

The convener took up a resolution moved by a woman councillor about the performance of WSSC.

He asked the assistant director local government whether it was in the purview of district council to question WSSC and after getting the reply he asked him to ensure the appearance of its officers in the next meeting.

The members said that the sanitation staff did not remove garbage from the collection points and instead burnt it which caused air pollution.

They claimed that the officers had handed over all the responsibilities to the sanitary inspector to look after all the six urban union councils because they left for Peshawar to their homes after 2pm.

Mr Rasheed said that Chief Minister Pervez Khattak had already been informed about the poor functioning of WSSC. He said that the district council would also inform the chief secretary about it during his expected visit of Kohat.

He asked the councillors to review the schemes approved under the ADP because it would take eight to 10 months for implementation and later changes in them would not be possible.
