GHALANAI: One paramilitary soldier lost his life in an exchange of fire with suspected militants who raided a check-post in Mohmand Agency near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, troops effectively responded and killed three ‘terrorists’ in retaliatory fire. The deceased soldier was identified as Farmanullah, aged 21.

Sources said the assailants opened fire on the Mohmand Rifles 205-Wing check-post at Sheikh Baba in the Safi area, some 75km northwest of Ghalanai, before dawn but the attack was repulsed. Killing of the three attackers could not be verified through independent sources in the area.
