LAHORE: Riffat Khan and Amna Fayyaz emerged as winners of the senior and junior events of the 1st Chief Minister Punjab National Women’s Squash Championship at the Punjab Squash Complex here on Monday.

In the senior category, third-seed Riffat from Wapda stunned top seed Zoya Khalid of Army in a one-sided final as she breezed past Zoya 11-5, 11-8, 11-5.

After losing the first game easily, Zoya tried valiantly to stage a comeback as she led 7-5 in the second game.

But Riffat again caught up with her rival Zoya to get into the lead. The third game proved a cakewalk for Riffat.

In the junior section, Amna of PIA trounced SNGPL’s Noor-ul-Huda in straight games 11-5, 11-7, 11-5.

Imran Mukhtar, vice-president of the Punjab Squash Association, was the chief guest and distributed the prizes.
