HYDERABAD: Amisha Khaskheli, whose parents had accused police of handing her over to influential landlords in Umerkot, was found near Tando Allahyar road on Wednesday.

A retired police head constable Muharram Baloch noticed her and brought her to Pinyari police station.

The girl’s parents had alleged that she had been missing since women police took her away, along with other relatives, on April 18 on charges of underage marriage.

They claimed that police had handed over their daughter to the area’s landlords.

Hyderabad DIG Javed Odho said the girl had been handed over to Umerkot police through ASP Zahida Parveen on Wednesday as the case pertained to Umerkot.

Amisha’s mother had filed a constitutional petition in the Hyderabad circuit bench of the Sindh High Court on April 30 which had fixed the matter for May 7 when Umerkot SSP was to submit a progress report.

The petitioner had said that her daughter was picked up by SHO Khush Bakht on April 18 and since then she had gone missing.

Mirpurkhas range DIG Mazhar Nawaz Shaikh told Dawn that the girl’s medical examination would be carried out and she would be produced in the court for recording her statement.
