These crispy, flaky twists require just three ingredients and a few minutes to make, yet they are a delight to snack on with a cup of milk or tea. Anyone can make it if you have puff pastry dough at home and you can make it into hundreds of flavours by substituting sugar with jam, Nutella, cheese, herbs and whatever you have at hand.

Just take the help of an adult in baking, otherwise you can do everything else yourself. Happy cooking!

Method:

Preheat oven to 400F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, set aside.

Roll the puff pastry sheet and cut it into strips about an inch wide. Cut the strips into half and brush it with the whisked egg. Sprinkle with sugar.

Twist the ends of the strips in opposite directions to give the straws a spiral look. Set it on a plate as you twist the rest of the strips. Now lightly brush the top with the egg again and sprinkle some sugar on top.

Line it on top of the parchment paper in the baking tray and bake for about 15 minutes. If you want a slightly more brown colour on top, then turn off the oven and turn on the grill and cook for two minutes more, but don’t overdo it as the sprinkled sugar can burn and spoil the taste.
