LAHORE, May 23: Eight goals by Azra Nasir, including a hat trick, helped Faisalabad Whites set final date with Lahore Whites in the Chief Minister’s Gold Cup women’s hockey at National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday. Faisalabad Whites outclassed Bahawalpur 12-0 in the first semifinals, while Lahore Whites defeated Lahore Colours 6-0 to move into final.
Azra, who scored six goals against Dera Ghazi Khan on Sunday, gave a warning to Lahore Whites with eight goals today.
Azra opened the account in the first minute of the first half. Aqeela Nasim doubled the lead six minutes before Azra again found the target in the 11th minute.
The winners waited for 17 minutes to increase the lead, Shumaila scoring in the 28th minute before Azra fired home her third the same minute, making it 5-0.
After resumption, Faisalabad maintained their supremacy as Azra netted her fourth a minute into second session. Amtal Yasmin made the score 7-0 in the 38th minute, Azra increased the lead 8-0 to score her fifth in the 39th minute.
Amtal added her second goal in the 42nd minute. Azra completed her hat trick banging home in the 45th, 48th and the 52nd minutes to seal the fate of the match.
In the second semifinal, Sana Javed gave Lahore Whites a 1-0 lead against Lahore Colours in the 15th minute when she scored a field goal. Neelma Hussain pumped in back-to-back goals in the 18th and the 29th minute.
The winners added three more goals in the second half. Beenish struck first in the 36th minute while Sana found the cage for her second in the 39th minute. Beenish slammed her second in the 41st minute to finish the job.
