QUETTA: Balochistan Assembly Speaker Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani inaugurated the newly built Women and Children Hospital here on Thursday evening.

The hospital was constructed at a cost of Rs30 million on the land taken back from the clutches of land mafia by the Balochistan High court. The money for construction of the hospital was provided by the speaker from MPA funds.

Such hospitals have already been established in 11 districts of Balochistan from the MPA funds, while seven in other districts are under construction.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the hospital, the speaker said it had historical importance after Lady Dufferin Hospital, which was not enough to cater to the growing population of Quetta.

She said the new hospital would not only provide best health facilities to women and children but also prove to be a positive step towards development of the health sector.
