Parbat, Hania, Zubair win titles at Open tennis

KARACHI: Talented Parbat Kumar overcame a stiff challenge from Vinod Das in the final to win the mens singles title while Hania Naveed beat Varsha Das to clinch the ladies singles in the 16th Westbury Open Tennis Ranking Championship which concluded at the Karachi Gymkhana courts here on Sunday.

In the under-17 final, Zubair Raja was stretched to limits by young Mujahidullah Khatak before he won the title. In the under-9 category, Ahsan Ahmed outplayed Nael Mirza 8-3.

Rasheed Jan Muhammad Chief Executive, Westbury Group was the chief guest at the closing ceremony and distributed the prizes. Also present were President Sindh Tennis Association Khawaja Saeed Hai, Tournament Director Khalid Rehmani, Qudsia Raja, and other tennis officials.

Mens singles (final): Parbat Kumar bt Vinod Das 4-6, 7-5, 10-8

U-9 Singles (final): Ahsan Ahmed by Nael Mirza 8-3

U-17 Singles (final): Zubair Raja bt Mujahidullah Khatak 4-6, 7-6, 10-8

Ladies Singles (final): Hania Naveed bt Varsha Das 8-0

Soft tennis (mens singles final): Eibad Sawar bt Robin Das 7-5

Soft tennis (girls seingles final): Hania Naveed bt Yumna Malik 5-0

soft tennis (doubles final): Eibad Sawar + Usama Saeed bt Muhammad Ali + Parbat Kumar 6-4.
