ABBOTTABAD: A Student-Teacher Centre having all essential facilities will be constructed in Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad, while renovation work in all five hostels, library, symposium hall, lecture halls, administration block and department of information technology of the college has been completed.
This was stated by Ayub Medical College Dean Prof Dr Azizun Nisa while sharing two-year performance report of the college during a media briefing here on Thursday. She said that all the five hostels, including one for girls, were renovated at the cost of Rs40 million.
The project for construction of double-storey Students Teachers Centre’s building has been assigned to Nespak as consultant and it would have bank, post office, gymnasium, daycare centre, offices, etc.
She took credit for the initiative of establishing the main drain to avoid flooding in the hostels. Flanked by Prof Naheema Afzal at the conference room of the college, Dr Azizun Nisa said that during last two years the college administration had tried its best to focus on curricular and extra-curricular activities and established Department of Medical Education (DME) in the college.
Dedicated posts for DME were created by the board of directors and it was entrusted with the task to develop both postgraduate and undergraduate education. She said that in collaboration with KMU Peshawar, modular system of teaching was being developed and preliminary work had been started.
She also took credit for starting proper procurement department and human resource department for smooth functioning of the institution. A procurement officer was appointed and procurement committee constituted to ensure timely procurement of equipment, furniture, etc.
Dr Azizun Nisa said that implementation of MTI Act and Regulations was an exhausting job which they managed to complete besides implementation of biometric system of attendance, which was started in July 2016 after installation of electronic machines for various cadres. She said that students’ attendance of 75 per cent was ensured which improved their pass percentage. She said that a number of conferences, seminars and workshops were organised in the institution.
