SWABI: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) leaders are optimistic about electoral alliance of their party with Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf for the upcoming general election. They also expects due share in award of election tickets to JUI-S leaders in the district.

JUI-S is not part of rejuvenated Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal and in the previous alliance of the religious parties one provincial constituency then PK-36, Swabi-VI was awarded to it. After the delimitation of constituencies by the Election Commission of Pakistan, PK-36 has been converted into PK-43, Swabi-I.

Mohammad Jamil advocate, former district president of JUI-S who contested election from then PK-36, told this scribe on Saturday that the party chief Maulana Samiul Haq had given a go-ahead for electoral alliance with PTI across the country.

“Hopefully, I will get the ticket for PK-43 if there was an electoral alliance between the two parties. The JUI-S did not join MMA because the PTI and our leadership have already made concrete commitment about alliance,” he said.

When contacted, PTI leaders said that commitment about PK-43 was out of question, while around 10 candidates, including former candidate Rangaiz Khan, had applied for the ticket. They said that Mr Rangaiz was quite sure that he would get the party ticket again.

WELCOMED: Shaukat Ali Anjum, adviser to Pakistan Workers Federation, on Saturday welcomed the approval of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa human right policy.

He told mediapersons at his residence in Maneri Payan that the approval of the policy by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-led government was a great achievement.

Answering a question, he said that it was responsibility of the government to take practical steps for the protection of human rights while ensuring that each and every person got due respect in the society.

Meanwhile, Topi tehsil naib nazim Mohammad Younas said on Saturday that if he was awarded ticket by PTI he would immediately tender resignation from his slot to contest the general election. Mr Younas has submitted application for PK-43, Swabi-I.
