ABBOTTABAD: The district has been short of the stamped papers of small denomination, mostly used by students for affidavits and undertakings, for the last two months.

A dealer requesting anonymity said that the stamped papers of Rs20, Rs30 and Rs50 denomination were not available in the district. He said that the matter was brought into the notice of local treasury, assistant commissioner, deputy commissioner and revenue department but no action was taken in that regard.

He said that the students had to buy the stamped paper worth Rs200 instead of the one costing Rs50 to get admission in colleges and universities. The students also had to bear additional charges of attestation and copying.

The local treasury officer, when contacted, said that requisition was already sent to the stationery department in Peshawar but fresh stock didn’t arrive during the last three months.

Sources said that students in Punjab province used stamped papers of only Rs5 denomination for undertakings and affidavits to get admission in colleges.

Suspended: The district education officer, Qazi Tajamal, suspended a teacher of Khaira Gali high school on the charges of beating a student and injuring him.

The official took notice of the complaint of the parents of the student and suspended the teacher, Muneer Ahmed.
