SWABI: Syndicate of the Women University Swabi (WUS) on Wednesday approved Rs544 million budget for the year 2018-19, varsity officials said.

The syndicate’s meeting was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor Prof Khanzadi Fatima Khattak.

The meeting also revised the budget for the year 2017–18 and university’s annual report for the year 2016-17, said the officials.

They said the forum also approved the minutes of seventh meeting of the academic council and third meeting of the finance and planning committee.

The participants appreciated the achievements of the faculty for continued research initiatives, academic accomplishments, arranging international trainings and collaboration with world’s renowned universities.

The meeting also took up the construction of the varsity’s campus at Kotha, and expressed satisfaction over the pace of work. It was informed that the new campus would be completed in a short time.

The participants also lauded the vice-chancellor for becoming the first Pakistani woman to receive the fellowship of world’s prestigious Royal Society of Chemistry, the UK.

On the occasion, Prof Khanzadi said the university was committed to providing contemporary education and inculcating the spirit of social responsibility in students to enable them to play a constructive role in progress and prosperity of the country.
