MANSEHRA: Chief of the Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the Junior Leaders Academy in Shinkiari on Wednesday. He was given a detailed briefing by the commandant.

“In modern warfare, training plays an extremely important role for army junior leaders as they play an extremely critical part at the forefront,” Gen Bajwa said, adding that fitness and handling of arms also played a vital part.

The army chief also interacted with the faculty and was pleased to see young officers from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas and Malakand as instructors.

The academy is a premium army institution which imparts training on basic professional skills and leadership traits to junior commissioned officers and non-commissioned officers of the Pakistan Army as well as a number of officers from other foreign countries.

On army chief’s directives, the academy is being upgraded to the Centre of Excellence for the Junior Military Leadership with enhanced capacity and facilities.

Inspector General of Training and Evaluation Lt Gen Hidayatur Rehman and Commander Rawalpindi Corps Lt Gen Nadeem Raza were also present on the occasion.
